MESSAGE FROM DR. DeSPAIN

Dear Parents-

Classroom teachers, support staff, and I have been in
great conversation regarding
the process of placing
students in classes for the coming year.  We know
this class
placement process is highly impactful to
you and your families.  Please find attached
a
detailed letter outlining the procedures for next year's
class placement, as well as a School Learning Profile
Form which may be filled out to better assess your
student's best placement
.  This optional form is one
piece of a body of information that is used for class
placement.

Sincerely,

Barbara E. DeSpain

Principal

Littleton Public Schools Get State Awards
LPS earned the rating of "Accredited with Distinction" for the third year in a row.  This is the highest accreditation rating given by the Colorado Department of Education.  Only 10% of Colorado's school districts earned this top academic rating.  LPS has earned it all three years it has been awarded and LPS remains the only school district in the Denver metro area to be Accreditied with Distinction.

Lois Lenski Elementary was awarded the 2012 John Irwin award.  The award means that Lenski has exceeded expectations on the three-year school performance framework's indicator related to academic achievement and that meet or exceed expectations on the indicator related to academic growth gaps.  The schools awarded this prize demonstrate the highest levels of achievement not just for some students but also adequate performance across all student groups.

Lenski and LPS students score high on state assessment tests
Results from the 2012 Transitional Colorado Assessment Program (TCAP) test show that Littleton Public Schools students continue to perform at high levels. LPS students are scoring 13 to 21 percentage points higher at the proficient and advanced levels than the state average in all grades and all subjects tested. LPS typically scores 16 percentage points above the state average. Many LPS schools posted their highest scores ever. The district focus on literacy continues to pay off for students at all levels.
